If you are choosing between China Star and Buffet City choose this place (unless you prefer a Mongolian grill or a ton of salad options then choose Buffet City).First off... if buffets are not your thing or you don't like the idea of them in general, this buffet isn't going to change your mind. So don't eat here (and then give a crappy review). That said, if you love buffet, and chinese (of course) give it a try.Meat options is what this place does well. Many pork dishes that seems uncommon in lot of other restaurants. I've been all times of the week and all times of the day and they never seem to have an abundance of seafood (average amount for those that like it). To me this is great because I don't like seafood nor want to pay an exorbitant price to eat extras Im not going to touch.Favorites and recommend the chicken in black bean sauce, spicy chicken, Generals or the sesame chicken, or the Wife's favorite the double cooked pork.Most disappointing are the noodles and fried rice isn't great either.Service is usually excellent. The place is always packed during lunch and dinner hours no matter what the day, but they are better than most places at refilling the dishes so don't let that put you off.

So, i have been before, and it was ok.. this trip was far less than ok. We grabbed lunch on a weekday and the place was packed. The sign boasts about best chinese in Abilene, so the other half went but not thrilled about the buffet part. It was edible but the Thai places in the Country Hearth Inn & Suites over off of Southwest and the loop is better by FAR! Going back to that spot from now on!

Something has happened to this restaurant. The last few times i have been there the food has not been warm and everything tastes like it has been warmed over. Also there is not a level table in the entire restaurant. There is nothing worse than trying to eat when your table continues to move from side to side. When you tell the wait staff about it they pretend they do not understand english. This used to be the best chinese restaurant in Abilene. I think success has gone to there heads. It is not as good as just a year ago.

Very good buffet. The selection has a wide variety including the desserts. We experienced fresh, hot food on the buffet and the food was very tasty. We will be back.

I am a frequent customer. Usually your food is good. Today we had Egg Drop Soup. It was not good. Buffet was not serviced at all while we were there. When we were seated, we were asked what soup we wanted and what we wanted to drink. We said Egg Drop Soup and water. Water was never brought to our table so we drank nothing. Soup was cold and tasteless.

The food, service and cleanliness is excellent. I've been eating there for over 15 years and the quality has never dropped. It's my favorite and it's the best in Abilene, despite what other restaurant owners on the same street like anonymous 2 years ago...2009-10-18...

This is the worst Chinese Restaurant I have ever visited. I recently dined in this establishment. The food was only okay, and the price was okay too. The thing bothered me the most was the waitress is totally untrained and impolite. They do not know how to greet customers when they arrive. Notably is the tall, young white waitress who was so rude. She grabbed the bottle of salt from my table and gave it to another table without saying a word to me. This normally shouldn't be a problem, but she should at least be able to say something like, "may I take this salt bottle if you do not use it any more?". A ruthless waitress. By the way, the quantity of food is very small, They use the smallest plate possible to serve your order. I paid $11 for that meal and I was only 50% full. Don't go to China Star in Abilene. There are other decent Chinese restaurants in Abilene. The Szchuan Chinese restaurant in S 1st street is a good one. JH?
